Our History
I was going to try and sit down and write something about each summer and the guys who played. But I never kept rosters or stats. I only have a few pictures to even piece all the teams together. Anyway, summer ball isn't about stats or where the guys ended up in College. It is about the game. Did we compete hard against good competition; and did we do well ? Absolutely ! Our club has won, at least once, every tournament we ever entered.
For several years while I was the head coach at Greenwich High School in Ct, I would pull together some of the CT guys with my old Cockeysville players and we would play in some tourneys. Those were some teams ! When you combine players like (Jamie Hanford,Bud Kitselman, Rich Pace), a couple Long Island guys ( Matt Crofton, Jay Jalbert, C. Denihan, E. Wieden...) with top notch Baltimore guys ( John Glatzel, Ryan Mollet, Brian Nee, Dan Lamonica, Ricky Schultz you get an incredible team! These guys made some life long friendships.
I'll never forget playing the Long Island Empire team late one July in NJ. We were heading to the bench area and a L.I. dad said loud enough for me to hear "now we are in trouble this coach has a chalk board". I used to carry one of those dry erase boards around for time outs since you hardly ever get to practice with your summer team. Those Long Island parents were completely shocked when we beat them 6-5!
Needless to say, I have been very fortunate to work with some of the very best players in the Metro area. Many of these guys played and achieved high honors at the Division I and III levels over the last 13 years!
